The Lay Eucharistic
Ministers are licensed to administer the chalice at celebrations of the Holy
Eucharist and to bring communion to hospitals, nursing homes and to shut-ins.
Participation as a Lay Eucharistic Minister requires training at the Mercer
School in Garden City and licensing by the Bishop of Long Island.
This year we are hoping to have the Lay Eucharistic Ministers do more of the
hospital and shut-in communions. We project that we will do between 120 and 150
communions each year. Please contact the office if you would be interested in
joining the Lay Eucharistic Ministers.
