2006 Music Ministry Report

Christ Church presently has two choirs. The Adult Choir consists of approximately 8 volunteer singers and four professional section leaders, rehearses Thursday nights and sings on most Sunday mornings for the 10AM service. The Children’s Choir consists of six members and is in a rejuvenating period; they have sung a communion anthem with the ladies of the Adult Choir, an anthem by themselves and led the singing at the 5PM Christmas Eve service.
We look forward to increased membership in both choirs over the next year. Those involved in the choirs – including parents – have made a significant time-commitment to Christ Church; in this day and age of stress and over-scheduling, we are so grateful to all those who have committed themselves to a ministry of music for the enhancement of our liturgies. We anticipate a more active role for the Children’s Choir in the coming year, participating in at least one service per month. In addition to the Sunday morning service, we can look at the 6PM service as a possible venue for either or both choirs. The Adult Choir will sing Part II of Handel’s Messiah at the Garden City Community Church as part of the Sunday Morning worship service, March 12, 2006.
