CHRIST CHURCH CHOIR TO PRESENT FAURÉ REQUIEM
____________________________________________________________________________________________

FAURÉ REQUIEM

Christ Church
Manhasset, NY

Sunday, Nov. 1st at 10:00 am

On Sunday, November 1st, the Feast of All Saints and the Faithful Departed, the Christ Church Choir will present the Fauré Requiem, Opus. 48, during the church service, beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Soloists and instrumentalists will be featured as part of this magnificent musical piece.  All are welcome.

This masterpiece of French Romantic choral music was written between 1887 and 1890 as a “Mass for the Dead,” and features seven movements, from an Intriot and Kyrie [“Grant them rest eternal”] to a conclusion In Paradisum [“Be thou in Paradise”].  The most famous pieces are a soprano solo Pie Jesus [“Blessed Jesus”] and a chorus Angus Dei [“Lamb of God”].

Andrew H. Yeargin, M. Mus., Director of the Christ Church Choir, said, “This opus, while having the solemnity befitting a mass honoring departed souls, has a lyrical lightness meant for a wonderful blend of choral voices.”

Admission is free and the service is open to the public!

Father David Lowry, Rector of Christ Church, stated, “Music is an integral part the Anglican tradition, to celebrate our worship and the glory of God through song and instrumental pieces.  Christ Church’s choir, lead by our choirmaster Andrew Yeargin, adds the musical component each week through hymns and anthems, but this musical presentation will be especially noteworthy.  All in the community are invited to come.  It’s not to be missed!”

Christ Church is located at 1355 Northern Boulevard in Manhasset.  For more information, contact the Church Office on 516-627-2184.
