Operation Christmas Child
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Our intrepid Sunday School leaders have
taken on another exciting and marvelously worthwhile holiday project! In
concert with the talented young ladies and gentlemen in
our K-5 classes, our
teachers will be making beautiful "Samaritan's Purses" for Christmas giving.
(Operation Christmas Child is sponsored by the international "Samaritan's Purse"
organization).
Each "purse" will contain a variety
of gifts for needy children overseas.
The building
blocks for this heartfelt project
include
donations of small toys and
personal items from the Christ
Church community ...
and ...
beautifully decorated SHOEBOXES,
which will hold the Christmas booty.
In preparation for the Samaritan's
Purse kickoff, Susan, Lori, Lisa and Heather
selflessly ran out and purchased a collective 35 pairs of
Manolo Blahniks just
to get the boxes!
And you can help, too! You can share Christmas joy with needy children around the world by filling wrapped shoeboxes with small gifts for boys and girls ages 2-14. There will be a container in the rear of the church for your filled shoeboxes or for donations of small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, etc. (please refer to the list of gift ideas in church.)
Any
donations of empty gift wrapped shoeboxes (the top of shoebox should be wrapped
separately so gifts may be inserted) will be greatly appreciated. Deadline for
donations is November 11. If you have any questions,
please see
Susan Bunyon or any other of our stylish friends
