Music - Adult Choir

Christ Church Choir
Participation
Participation in the Adult Choir is open to all members of the Manhasset community of high school age or older.
You don’t need to be a former music major – just someone who can carry a tune and enjoys our exciting choral program. The repertoire of the adult choir spans the entire range of choral music, from plainsong to recently composed works. The choir is anchored by four section leaders. Our goal is to have at least four singers for each part (soprano, alto, tenor and bass) so additional singers are most welcome.
Choir Sings Every Sunday
The 10am Holy Eucharist features congregational singing and choral music, led by our Director of Music, Andrew Yeargin, and our talented adult choir. As our worship relates the scriptures of the day to our daily lives, the choral music also reflects the themes of the season.
Candlemas Evensong
at the Cathedral
Feb. 5th 4:00 PM
On Sunday, February 5, 2012 the Christ Church Chancel Choir and Schola Cantorum will join the Cathedral choirs the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Garden City for Solemn Choral Evensong. In addition to hearing a wealth of great music in a beautiful and prayerful setting, this service is also a wonderful opportunity for Christ Church to show itself as an active and vital component within the Diocese of Long Island. It would be great to have as many parishioners from Christ Church in attendance as possible to support our choir and show solidarity with our brothers and sisters at the Cathedral. The service will end long before the Super Bowl kick-off! The Cathedral is located at 50 Cathedral Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530.

Rehearsals
The choir rehearses on Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. in the Parish House. Sunday warm-up begins at 9:15 a.m.
Schola Cantorum
The Schola Cantorum made up of high school singers is looking for a few new and committed singers. Singers receive a small stipend for each service sung in the form of a scholarship when they complete high school. This is an opportunity for young singers to sing with a choir of volunteers and skilled professional section leaders. A vast repertoire of sacred music ranging from ancient Gregorian chant to very modern choral music is sung throughout the year. The SC rehearses with the Chancel Choir on Thursday evenings at 7:30pm.
Donations to the Schola Cantorum will be gladly accepted.
Inspiration
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God. And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:16-17
