Kyle's Music Notes
The 10am
Holy Eucharist features congregational singing and choral music, led by our
Director of Music,
Kyle Babin,
and our talented adult choir. As our worship relates the scriptures of the day
to our daily lives, the choral music also reflects the themes of the season.
Calling All Basses … and Sopranos, Altos and Tenors!
Do you have a secret passion … for music? Ever
sing in the shower or in the car on the world’s longest parking lot (a/k/a the
Long Island Expressway) ? Think your basso profundo talents can attract wine,
women and song? Perhaps you hear the messy soprano on WQXR and think that you
could be her?
Well, dream no longer! We want to help you to get to second bass … or tenor or alto or soprano! We would love to have you join our joyful, friendly choristers – don’t be intimidated by their angelic voices – they’re really fun people and would like enthusiastic parishioners like yourself to help swell their ranks (sorry, bad organist pun).
You don’t
need to be a former music major – just someone who can carry a tune and enjoys
our exciting choral program. The repertoire of the adult choir spans the entire range of choral music, from
plainsong to recently composed works. The choir is anchored by four
section leaders. Our goal is to have at least four singers for each part
(soprano, alto, tenor and bass) so additional singers are most welcome.
Participation in the Adult Choir is
open to all members of the Manhasset community of high school age or older.
