Daily Bread Ministry

Our Daily Bread Ministry will provide a fun way to come together as a church in service of Christ and those in need.

Inspiration

Yet I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer; O my God, do not delay. Psalm 40:17

How can I help?

Adopt a Family

Now through Dec 5th

We are continuing our tradition of generosity and support, by participating in the annual Adopt A Family Christmas gift program. The tree will be up Sunday, with the tags that have the family member names, ages, and gift requests. Please return wrapped gifts, with the original tags, by December 5th.

If you are unable to shop, and still wish to support the program, please send a check payable to Christ Church, with Adopt-A-Family, in the memo line. This year, more than ever, the families supported by St. John's Hospital outreach need us. You will notice more tags for adults, as we assist in the ministry of caring for older people, who are trying to live independently.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Please contact me, Patti Crisafulli, with any questions, or concerns, at pattinms@gmail.com

Leaf Raking

Sunday, Dec 6th at 11:00 a.m.

An hour, two hours or three hours of your time would be greatly appreciated! We need all hands and all ages please! “BYOR” Please bring gloves, a rake, and any extra rakes (all labeled with your name) that you own. A few shovels and brooms would come in handy too! Breakfast will be provided.

                        ***Community service credit available***

As well, any families who would like to take park in the annual leaf raking and churchyard cleanup, but would like to avoid any possible “crowds,” then please feel free to come any day during the week and rake away!

Pledge Drive

Please return your pledge card this month

We ask you to be prayerful as you consider your gift for the coming year.  Christ Church relies on your giving throughout the year to make its mission and ministry possible.  Your gift, therefore, is not simply a financial transaction, but also a statement of faith.  Each gift is a visible sign of the importance of the ministry of Christ Church to your life, and a sign that you believe that ministry is important enough to be shared not just among our families, but throughout our community.

Christ Church is always grateful for your contributions and ministry. “Being the Church is, by definition, a group effort – there is no such thing as a church of one, but a body of many.” It is the effort of every member – the youngest to the oldest – that makes our church. Your generosity in giving, and your dedication to your individual ministries bring light and life to our church. Thank you for all you do to ensure the continued life and ministry of Christ Church.

Daily Bread Ministry

Sunday July 14th, 2024

With great excitement, we would like to announce a new ministry here at Christ Church: The Daily Bread. In the 25th chapter of Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus teaches that whatever we do for those in need, we do for him. Our Daily Bread Ministry will provide a fun way to come together as a church in service of Christ and those in need. We will meet once a month in the Parish House Kitchen to bake homemade treats for local shelters, providing nourishment and joy to our community. Following coffee hour on July 14th we will have our first project: baking sparkling sugar cookies! We are taking donations for the ingredients (flour, butter, whole milk, vanilla extract, colored sanding sugar). There will be a sign-up sheet in the back of the church for your donations. All donations must be dropped off by July 7th in the basket in the back of the church or the Parish Office. If you have any questions, please email Phoebe Miller phoebe.miller@yale.edu.

Stewardship Pledges

Weekly or monthly

In an effort to maintain our buildings and financial responsibilities, we urge you to continue to support our church by maintaining your stewardship. It is your donations that keep our ministry going. The funds that you have so generously committed to contribute to Christ Church are very much needed to enable us to meet our financial commitments and to be ready to resume services when this unfortunate pandemic has passed.

Please mail checks to:

Christ Church
1351 Northern Boulevard
Manhasset, NY 11030

You may catch up on your pledge, or you could even set up recurring donations, so your bank account can automatically be charged on a regular basis. This is particularly helpful during this time when we are not able to worship.

Christ Church has held successful diaper and food drives to support the LICC food bank, generously provided gifts for the St. John’s Adopt a Family Christmas program, and provided food and gifts to other local programs. As we seek to expand outreach efforts in this difficult period, with a goal of identifying our particular gifts, we could use some more hands.

We need help choosing efforts, publicizing them, and working out the logistics of speakers or goods delivery or meeting the folks we help. Anyone interested, please contact Patti at pattinms@gmail.com.
