Youth

Junior High Youth Group
7th and 8th Grades

If you are a 7th or 8th grader, come see!

There is a special youth group just for you at Christ Church. It will be held in the Parish House during Church School. We can’t tell you everything about the group yet, because you will be creating it. You will bring your imagination, talent, honesty and faith to yourselves, each other, and to what you already know about the life of Jesus.

In June, you will have the chance to teach your experiences in a creative way to the Senior Youth Group. You may even want to convince Father Lowry to let you share a lesson about Christ’s love with the entire congregation using your own method of teaching – perhaps using story-telling (Jesus’ personal favorite!), dance, painting, mind mapping (more on this later), poetry or even cooking.

Come help create something new and amazing at Christ Church. You are important, needed and appreciated! See you next Sunday.

Confirmation

Confirmation classes will be held on the following dates in 2012:

January 22 April 1
February 5 April 15
February 26 May 13
March 11 May 20
March 18 June 3

Classes follow the 10:00 am serivce and will run from 11:30 to 12:30. The classes are open to all those who are in 8th grade or above.

Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which the candidates "express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop". Confirmation will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2012, at St. Paul's Church in Glen Cove. Those who were baptized at an early age and those baptized as adults without laying on of hands by a bishop are expected to make a mature public affirmation of their faith, recommit themselves to the responsibilities of their baptism, and receive laying on of hands. Adults baptized with the laying on of hands by a bishop are considered to be confirmed.

Inspiration

Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to Your lovingkindness remember me,
For Your goodness' sake, O LORD.
Psalm 25:7

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.
Romans 15:4
