Organ Recital
with Blessing & Dedication of
Newly Refurbished Console

October 16, 2022 at 4:00pm

Featuring: Paul Byssainthe, Jr. 

Tickets: Sold at door, $15

Join us at Christ Church as we celebrate the installation of our newly refurbished console for our 1972 Casavant pipe organ.

 

Prior to the recital, we will bless and dedicate this console for use in worship. We are blessed to have Paul Byssainthe, Jr. join us as recitalist. 

 

Paul Byssainthe, Jr. is an accomplished organist, conductor, and composer. A native of New York, he has been involved in music since a young age. He was a multiple winner in the International Concert Alliance Piano Competition as well as the Piano Teachers’ Congress of New York Piano Competition. He is a graduate of Andrews University, where he earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and the Master of Music Degree in Orchestral Conducting.

 

His major teachers were Kenneth Logan in Organ, and Claudio Gonzalez and Stephen Zork in Conducting. During his time at Andrews, he served as a Graduate Conducting Assistant, conducting works by Tchaikovsky, Barber, Brahms, and Operatic scores of Verdi. He recently served as Organist and Choir Director at St. Martin de Porres Parish in Brooklyn, NY, and as Piano Instructor for the Lang Lang International Music Foundation’s Keys of Inspiration Program at PS 46 in Harlem, NY. As a Composer, he has written several short pieces, and works extensively as an Arranger and Orchestrator for various recording projects.

Haunted Graveyard
Halloween Walk

October 29, 2022 7:00pm - 9:30pm

Tickets: Sold at gate, $10

Looking to hear some darker - but all true! - stories? Meet fallen angels and helpless victims on this walking tour through Christ Church Cemetery. Attendees will tour the ancient cemetery with their spirit guide, visiting the final resting places of Manhasset's notable and not-so notable residents. You will walk amongst the dead in burying grounds over 200 years old and hear stories of those mortal remains that lie beneath your feet as their spirits rise for the occasion and are dying to share their true, yet often dark, tales.

HISTORIC CEMETERY TOUR

Christ Church Manhasset hosts the 3rd Historic Cemetery Tour on Sat. Sept 17 with costumed re-enactors portraying citizens of Manhasset from 100 years ago.  Fifty minute guided tours start at 12:30 pm; last tour is at 4 pm. Tickets range from $5 for children ages 5-12; $20 for adults; discount for Seniors/veterans/first responders. Tickets at the gate: 1355 Northern Blvd, Manhasset. To park, enter our lot from George Street. Refreshments available.

Christ Church Annual Meeting

February 5th, 2023 

Following the 10am Holy Eucharist; in the Church.

The Wardens will give the Warden’s Address on the Parish and our Vision and Goals for 2023, and a report will be given about our annual budget for this year’s ministries. Father Stephen will offer his Rector report. All Christ Church members’ attendance is important at this meeting as we engage in the business of Christ Church. Please reach out to fellow parishioners to attend this meeting.

The Vestry slate for 2023 is:

  • Arlene Blocker, Junior Warden (2023 to 2025)

  • Anita Schmidt to continue for an additional 3 years (2023 to 2026)

  • William Cornachio (2023 to 2026)

Galentine’s Floral Fellowship Night
 

Wednesday, February 15th, 2023 @ 7pm.

 

Wondering how to create fabulous floral arrangements?
Join us for a fun Galentine's event! 


Stella Biniaris, Luxury Floral Designer, will show us how to prep our flowers for that beautiful “wow” look. fresh flowers and a vase will be provided. Please bring your own clippers. 

Cost is $50 pp non-refundable, payable at time of your reservation. Last day to register/pay is Wednesday, February 1. Please send your check to Christ Church, or, if you'd prefer to pay by Zelle please call the Parish Office for info 516-627-2184.

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Tuesday February 21st, 2023 at 6:30pm

 

Join us for a traditional pancake supper on Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 6:30pm in the Parish House. We begin the Lent Season the following day, Ash Wednesday, and so we have one spot of indulgence before we do so with some pancakes and breakfast for dinner. 

 

As well, we will have Lent prayer cards available for individuals and families. To close out the evening, we will  burn the previous year's palms and use the ashes for the Imposition of Ashes the next day.

Mothering Sunday Brunch

Sunday March 12th, 2023 at 11:00am

Join us for a Parish Brunch on the Third Sunday in Lent. This is a wonderful mid-Lent fellowship opportunity as we gather for lunch together following the 10:00am Holy Eucharist service. 

This is a potluck brunch. Please plan on bringing an entree, side, or dessert and drop off in the Parish House before the 10:00am service. Please contact the Parish Office if you'd like to take part and bring some food. All food should be enough for 25-30 people.

Choral Evensong for Lent &

Parish Dinner

Sunday March 26th, 2023 at 4:00pm

Join us for a service of Choral Evensong for Lent, sung by our Christ Church Choir, followed by a Parish Dinner in the Parish Hall.

A Parish Dinner catered by Pita House to follow the Service of Lessons & Carols will be held in the Parish House. Cost is $25 per person to be collected prior to the dinner. A sign-up sheet will be located in the back of the church or click here. Checks can be made out to Christ Church with Lenten Dinner in memo and mailed to the Parish Office, placed in the Sunday collection or left in the church mailbox.

Join us at Christ Church as we observe the most solemn week of the Church's liturgical year, Holy Week, culminating with the Celebration of the Resurrection of Christ on Easter Sunday.

The Sunday of the Passion: Palm Sunday, April 2nd:

Holy Eucharist with blessing and distribution of Palms at 8:00am & 10:00am.

Maundy Thursday: April 6th

Holy Eucharist Rite 2 at 7:00pm

Good Friday: April 7th

The Solemn Liturgy of Good Friday at 12:00pm (spoken) & 7:00pm (with music).

Easter Sunday: April 9th

Festal Eucharist of the Resurrection at 10:00am with music and brass.

Easter Egg hunt in Churchyard following the 10:00am Eucharist service.
